I usually do a big altar for Día de los Muertos on the living room floor or the dinning table. This year, however, thanks to my crawling baby I had to move it to a little corner of my apartment. It's small but just as beautiful!

I used a photo of my tio Luis, a match box shrine I made for my tia Mariela, and sugar skulls for my tia Mari, My great-grandma Natalia, and my great-uncle Arturo.

I got some Cempazuchiles (marigolds) from my parent's yard and used a few of my calavera decorations. Trust me, I have plenty!

I also used some religious images because my family is catholic.

For the food I used a pan de muerto, a glass of water, and "clay" food such as enchiladas and pan dulce. My altar was too small to use real food!

Now, you probably won't believe this but remember how I said that it is believed that our loved ones can visit us today? Well, when we got home today I found my tio Arturo's sugar skull facing to the side!!

No one touched the altar since I set it up yesterday. My boyfriend is a prankster but he swears he didn't do it so who knows!! I kind of like the idea of my tio Arturo visiting us! He was always playing with us when we were kids :D
My altar will stay up most of the month since it's "The Month of the Souls", I will probably just take off the candles and the bread though.
Hope everyone had an excellent Day of the Dead!
