WIP Box/ Caja de proyectos

I’m on spring break this week and I think it is ironically that we call it “break” since it is when I do more work!
I have a long to do list, but I’m still trying to make time for crafts!
I visited the craft store the other day with the idea of buying a cute “sewing box” to keep all the projects I’m working on handy. But the ones that I found were not cute at all and a bit pricey. So I bought a paper Mache hatbox, some scrapbook paper, ribbon, added a postcard I got in Paris and – VOILA!
I’m pretty happy with the result!! What do you guys think??

Esta semana es mi “descanso de primavera”, y creo que es irónico que le llamen “descanso” ya que es cuando mas trabajo tengo que hacer. Tengo tantos proyectos de la universidad que terminar, pero estoy tratando de hacer un tiempito para mis manualidades.
El otro día fui a la tienda en busca de un costurero para tener mis proyectos a la mano. Pero los que encontré no me gustaron mucho y estaban un poco caros. Así que me compré una caja redonda, papel, listón, le añadí una postal que compré en París y – ¡VOILA!
¡Estoy muy contenta con el resultado! ¿Ustedes que opinan?

Recycling/Reciclando

Just when I promised that I was going to do post more ... they decide to have a daylight saving time change! Crazy. The days seem to be longer, and so does my to-do list as I am in the middle of midterms and organizing like a million events. Besides, I haven’t been sleeping well, since I don’t get sleepy until 1 or 2 am just to wake up a few hours later. I hate it! But hopefully I’ll get used to it…soon!
So, back to today’s post. Remember I told you I LOVED Frida Kahlo? Well, I bought a calendar of her paintings in Spain last year, and since I just loved the pictures I thought it would be a shame to throw it away once the year was over. And so it ended up coming back with me to California, and I’m so glad it did.
I got some cheap wooden frames at Ikea, some acrylic black paint, and found a perfect place for them above my bed. I actually got the large frames before to see how they looked, and when I went back to get the rest they didn’t have any of the same size left. So I had to buy some smaller ones, and improvise. But I think it still looks good, what do you think? I thought it was an excellent idea to recycle an old calendar, plus a cheap way to decorate.
Sorry for the bad pictures, that wall doesn’t get good lighting.

I also have an old Frida Kahlo Taschen Diary with lots of beautiful pictures I wan to use. Any ideas?

Justo cuando prometí “blogear” mas… ¡deciden cambiar el horario! Una locura. Los días parecen alargarse al igual que mi lista de cosas que tengo que hacer, ya que estoy en exámenes de mitad de semestre y estoy organizando un millón de eventos. Además, no he estado durmiendo muy bien, ya que no me da sueño hasta la 1 o 2 de la madrugada y me tengo que despertar unas cuantas horas después. ¡Así que espero acostumbrarme pronto!
Pero bueno, volviendo al post de hoy. ¿Recuerdan que les había comentado que me ENCANTA Frida Kahlo? Pues el año pasado me compre un calendario de sus pinturas en España, y como las imágenes me encantaron me dio penita deshacerme de el al final del año. Y fue así que el calendario termino regresando conmigo a California… ¡afortunadamente!
Compre unos marcos de madera baratos en Ikea, use un poco de pintura acrílica negra, y les encontré un lugar perfecto arriba de mi cama. De hecho, compre los marcos grandes antes para ver que tal se veían, y cuando regrese a comprar los demás ya no quedaban ninguno del mismo tamaño. De tal forma que termine comprando unos marcos mas pequeños y no me quedó mas que improvisar. Pero creo que aun así se ve muy bien, ¿ustedes que piensan? Creo que es una muy buena idea para reciclar calendarios o imágenes que tengamos por ahí y decorar de una manera económica.
Perdón por las fotos tan malas, pero es que esa pared no recibe buena luz.

También tengo una vieja agenda Taschen de Frida Kahlo con muchísimas fotos que quiero usar. ¿Alguna idea?

Book of the Month/Libro del mes

I have so many projects and ideas to share with you but haven’t been able to post any of them. These past few weeks have been crazy for me, I’ve been working too many hours, I have midterms coming up, I am organizing some projects at school, and I’ve been sick with a bad cold =[ Needless to say, I am going to need to take a day off soon!
But I do have the book of the month, anyone here likes love stories?

Tengo tantos proyectos e ideas que compartir con ustedes, pero no he podido ya que he tenido tiempo ni de respirar: he estado trabajando demasiadas horas, tengo exámenes estas semanas, he estado organizando varios proyectos en mi Universidad, y por si no fuera poco he estado enferma =[
Pero por lo pronto les tengo el libro del mes, ¿a alguien le gustan las historias de amor?




March: Scusa ma ti chiamo amore by Federico Moccia

Federico Moccia is not only the responsible for the love lock tradition in Rome; he is also the responsible for getting me hooked on love novels! I read his first book ( Tre metri sopra il cielo) on my way back from Spain last year, and regretted not buying his other books while I was there since they are so hard to get here in the U.S. So when Scusa ma ti chiamo amore was released here in Spanish last month, I ran to the store and got it!
It tells the story of 37-year-old Alessandro who falls crazily in love with Niki, who is 20 years younger than him. Despite of the age difference, they are going to live a passionate love story, taking place in romantic Rome. I started reading the novel a week early, since I finished my February book early, and been having trouble putting it down!!
By the way, I actually found the movies for the first book and sequel (Ho voglia di te) on youtube with Spanish subtitles this weekend!! I can’t wait to have Ho voglia di te realeased in Spanish here in the U.S.!! I’m actually pretty tempted to pay 50 dollars and have it shipped from Spain!!
If you are in mood for a love, warm story before spring gets here, this is the book to get!

Marzo: Perdona si te llamo amor por Federico Moccia

Federico Moccia no solo es el responsable por la tradición de los candados de amor en Roma, también es el responsable de que ¡¡yo este tan obsesionada con las novelas de amor!!! Leí su primer libro (Tres metros sobre el cielo) el verano pasado cuando regresaba de España, y ahora me arrepiento de no haber comprado sus demás novelas mientras estaba allá, ya que son tan difíciles de conseguir aquí en Estados Unidos. Así que cuando la versión en español de “Perdona si te llamo amor” salió a la venta en Estados Unidos el mes pasado, no pude dejar de comprarlo. Cuenta la historia de Alessandro, un chico de 37 años quien se enamora enloquecidamente de Niki, una chica de 17. A pesar de la diferencia de edad, la pareja vive una historia de amor apasionada en la romántica Roma. Empecé la novela una semana antes ya que termine mi libro de Febrero antes, y la verdad me es difícil dejar de leerlo!!!!!
Por cierto, este fin de semana encontré las películas para Tres metros sobre el cielo y la segunda parte “Tengo ganas de ti” en youtube, con subtítulos en Español y todo!! No puedo esperar a que este ultimo salga a la venta en Estado Unidos, he estado tentada a pagar 50 dólares para que me lo envíen desde España!!
Si tienen ganas de una historia de amor, apasionante y calida antes de que llegue la primavera, este es el libro que tienen que leer!!
